American Idol’s popularity is being used for the greater good. “Idol Gives ack” is a program dedicated to raising funds and awareness about the overty level in Africa and parts of America. American Idol candidates and their fans have pages on My Space in the hope of gaining popularity, exposure and even votes. “Idol Gives Back” now has its own My Space page
with the same aspirations.
The page boasts pictures, videos, blogs and links to charity organizations. Idol fans voted on April 24, 2007 for an
extended voting period for their favorite contestants with monetary donations given for the first fifty million votes. After five successful seasons of growing popularity, season six is proving to be the greatest yet.

The 'Web 2.0' cliche is that everything must be launched as a beta and MySpace News is no different. The reason, that I think, is because there are probably going to be errors and the developers can just point at the 'Beta' name and say, "I told you it wasn't done." So, what's the point? There is none, other than announcing that MySpace News is now on the scene.
Q: What is MySpace News?
MySpace News aggregates news from around the web and provides MySpace users with the ability to vote on what they think is most interesting.
Yes, that means that MySpace News will be Digg style, which means it will be a target for spammers and corruption. The difference is that apparently the news is not submitted by users, rather it's culled from an existing pot of submitted RSS feeds and news resources. Therefore all content will be monitored before it even hits the browse page.
Below is a cute little ribbon they offer to news sites elite enough to be included in their index(No, ObsceneCaffeine.com is not one of them. -David):
What makes MySpace News different is the ability to browse for local news. Most major cities are located in the navigation bar, where popular news from that geo location is displayed. Different, yes, life saving, perhaps. Personally, if I had billions of dollars to throw at a project, it'd be a little more not-beta and a lot more unique.

In it's latest marketing endeavor, MySpace has partnered with Vivendi Games to create a unique contest for their
upcoming game, Surviving High School. The contest is unique to MySpace, where adding Surviving High School to your top friends list will automatically enter you into the running to win prizes and a chance to star in their mobile game.
So, what's up for grabs?
Only five will be choosen, so choose your top friends wisely.
Surviving High School is an original-IP mobile game franchise developed by the Centerscore studio, which VG Mobile acquired last year.

No, Lucy doesn't really hump my face in the physical meaning, rather she is just incredible. (yes in every single way. -ed) While cycling through the pages at ObsceneCaffeine I managed to happen stance upon the Girls for MySpace section, which features a lot of attractive, almost sultry ladies.
So who's my fav?
She is so lovely, raw, and gosh darn scrumptious. It's easy to post pictures such as these directly to your MySpace Profile Page by copying the code beneath images, such as this, and pasting it where you want into your profile.
So remember, next time you want a beautiful Asian, Lucy Liu, to flick you off, you just have to look at your MySpace profile.

Whenever you rely on other companies to provide any service, you are at their mercy. Such is the case in the latest MySpace news that declared that Photobucket images and videos will no longer work on MySpace profiles.
MySpace has created a monster, a greedy monster that insists on keeping all of it's traffic local. By blocking Photobucket they are forcing users to use their in house video sharing system. It doesn't matter if their system is lacking, it matters where their traffic goes and the users are not happy.
As of the latest update from the Photobucket blog, images and videos hosted at Photobucket will still work on your MySpace profile, but not in comments.

...or bones.

It looks like the mystery tv show Bones will bringing the social network giant into their advertising. The shows main characters are planning on having their own MySpace profiles, which will allow them to market their upcoming episode.
Bones is not the first TV or movie media to utilize the popularity of MySpace for advertising purposes. The trend in blending social networks with fantasy TV has been growing over the past year and probably going to continue. Getting involved with the otherwise 1-way medium is just another way to get you hooked, on the show. ![]()
