MySpace Deletes Sex Offenders

posted by cldnails August 26th, 2008.No Comments

In another move to prove that MySpace is supporting law enforcement in the continued effort to keep child molesters and other sex offenders off their social network, they have deleted more than 146 profiles. These 146 sex offender profiles were all from Nebraska, so it's just one small move, but will send a message that hopefully soon all will be removed.

MySpace has a social responsibility and that means keeping potential threats away from underage children. Just as in town's where the offender needs to be kept away from schools, they need to be kept away from our children's online presence as well.

In some states it's actually illegal for sex offenders to take part in social sites like MySpace. This is true for any site that may place the offender in contact with underage children, so FaceBook and Hi5 are not excluded. This law is more important than you may realize, considering statistics show that 1 in 11 children are sexually harrassed or solicited online. Keeping our children as far away as possible from these vile individuals should be priority one. I'm personally glad to see MySpace stepping up to the plate to do their part.

MySpace Photos Deny Another Teacher

posted by cldnails May 06th, 2008.No Comments

The first few times it happened, ok 'I didn't know' will fly, but by now everyone should be aware of the ramifications of posting questionable pics to social networking sites. Stacy Snyder is just the latest of potential school teachers that are being denied their accredation because of pictures depecting alcohol use or racier images in bikini's.

Christ, if my Biology teacher resembled Tiffany Shepherd, I wouldn't have got any work done. But, thanks to the miracles of the internet her images are posted everywhere and now she has lost her job. Now, was wearing the Drunken Pirate title worth it? Remember kids, if you are looking to get a job in public services...just say no to MySpace.

Selling Privacy Information

posted by cldnails September 19th, 2007.No Comments

How far is too far and what are you willing to sacrifice for a few more social networking features? According to a new study most Facebook and MySpace users are willing to let companies sell their private information for access to new features.

The article is a little misleading in that it considers personal information your email address and pictures that you upload. Its not like they are sending your credit card information to the highest bidder or even your home address. Essentially social networking sites sell your data via advertisements on your profile page.

Sounds good to me, as long as I can keep tabs on my friends. :)

Gangs of MySpace

posted by David May 30th, 2007.No Comments

Hanging out and looking intimidating in the local mall parking lot is apparently not enough anymore. According to Local6.com Oviedo, Florida gangs are relying on MySpace to recruit new members. Wait a minute...something is not right here.

Damn the media causing me to even fear MySpace! Simply read the supposed warning signs:

Experts said warning signs that a child may be involved in gang activity are:

  • Wearing specific colors

  • Withdrawal from family

  • Using and practicing hand signs

  • Breaking rules at home and school

Christ, this is every single teen in America! Panic, doubt, widespread commitment to believing everything in the media. For the gang's initiation you must spam your girlfriend 100 times with the other gang members email addy's. mmmm, hot.

Top 7 Ways To Get Busted On MySpace

posted by David May 24th, 2007.2 Comments

It doesn't take a braniac to realize that everybody and their dead grandma has a MySpace Profile. So, why do people do dumb ass things to get caught on MySpace?

#7 Hey, if I meet you on MySpace I can meet you in person.
No, no, no! This must be what troubled teens do. Engage Internet, Disengage Brain! Don't trust anyone on the internet, let alone meet them in person. It's sad that someone lost their life, but even worse that the WWW's melting pot was the spark.

#6 Wanna get laid? Support lawlessness.
Come on, we all know why he was on there. Hell, it's obvious MySpace is the place to pick up chicks(see #7). But when you get busted, fess up, it's cool to tell the truth...and lose your job.

#5 Post pics of you doing your best impression of a pirate.
I still don't understand how this promotes underage drinking. If Jesus could get drunk at parties and stay out all night, then be a teacher, then why not this lady?

#4 If your a hottie teacher, keep in touch with your underage lover.
This teacher is HOT! Either that student was expected to inherit millions or was hung from elbow to finger tip. Sucks, the hottest teacher when I was in school had a belly button between her tits.

#3 Nothing says I'm cool like making threatz over the interwebs.
Something about winning the special olympics... Kids can be so cruel sometimes, or famous if the bulling gets picked up on MSNBC.

#2 It's gonna be a pure Massacre. -silverchair
You have to take everything seriously since Columbine and recently after Vag Tech, but common. Where is the MySpace Nanny to just whoop the profile creators ass?

#1 Be the parental figure to children EVERYWHERE!
Parents, take responsibility so the shit in this list doesn't happen. MySpace, refrain from pissing on whining 14 year olds and releasing a few hit albums.

Are you hear to find out ways to get on myspace? If so then you need to know more about Proxy Lists and what they can do to get you on myspace, no matter if its blocked or not.

Punched In The Face On MySpace

posted by cldnails May 04th, 2007.No Comments

Kid Suspended After Punching on MySpace VideoI feel like all I right about is students being disciplined and individuals losing their jobs over MySpace content. Why? Apparently MySpace is on everyones mind and where else should inquiring minds go when they have nothing better to do, but nose around in other peoples business.

The news today is that a 19 year old student in Mansfield Ohio was suspended for 3 days from school for punching a 'friend' in the face. The students were not caught and the person on the receiving end of the punch agreed to the punch, but it was filmed in the school parking lot. Guess where the video showed up at? derrrrrr, MySpace.

So, for $70, a mutually agreed upon punch in the face, and a video camera you too can be suspended from school. This means whether you were caught or not, MySpace content can still come back to haunt you. I don't care how funny it may seem at the time. Don't these teachers have better things to do than nose through kids MySpace profiles? I have an idea, how about teach. Boys will be boys.

    Obama MySpace Takeover

posted by David May 03rd, 2007.2 Comments

It's almost a joke, a MySpace profile influencing a presidential campaign. However, it is no joke and Barrack Obama is taking his name and profile back on MySpace. Not that it was ever stolen, the person who maintained the profile worked for Obama's presidential campaign.

Recently the profile exploded with page views and popularity as the friends list vaulted over 160,000. Obama, whom feared that if anyone else controlled the profile, a misrepresentation of his platform or worse would happen. So, did Obama lose a vote because of his bullying?

Anthony wrote on his MySpace blog that he was heartbroken that the Obama campaign was "bullying" him out of the page he built. He initially said the candidate lost his vote, but Obama may have begun to win it back after a Wednesday evening phone call that Anthony called a great honor. Anthony said he was so nervous that he doesn't remember exactly what Obama said, but the candidate expressed his appreciation and they agreed everyone learned a lesson in this case.

As a potential future leader to our country, doesn't he have better things to be worried about? I suppose if he ever does become president he will want to control what Digg Users have to say.

    Is MySpace Your Space?

posted by cldnails May 01st, 2007.4 Comments

Another case has surfaced where an individual has been affected due to content on a MySpace profile.

Millersville University denied Stacy Snyder a teaching certificate on the eve of her graduation after finding a picture of her on MySpace with the caption "Drunken Pirate." The case looks like it could be a landmark for internet privacy rights.

Users must remember that MySpace is a public forum, just like any place else, where your actions speak. In this case it happened to be a picture of Stacy Snyder enjoying an adult beverage, which in turn has been spun into her 'encouraging' underage drinking. Although that may not be the case, there are still ramifications for allowing that picture to end up in a public realm. But who's responsibility is it to keep private images/information off of MySpace?

Industry experts believe that this case could possibly become the benchmark, which regulates MySpace (amongst other social networks) privacy. BloggingStocks asks the question, if the court rules that you could lose your job/diploma over what's on MySpace, would you have YourSpace?

    MySpace Report Card

posted by David March 07th, 2007.No Comments

When it comes to social networking sites MySpace is the mother, father, and God to the rest of the time consuming spawns. I'm sure if we all tallied our time on MySpace.com it would rival the amount of time I spend asleep each night. (ok, maybe not that much. -David.)

Nevertheless, like any other time consuming activity other daily routines must suffer to make up for the addiction. A recent study has been completed that suggests that students grades may be the hardest sacrificed. But hey, they just wanna see what their latest MySpace comment is, leave a comment, post bulleting.....etc..etc...

High school students who spent significant time viewing social networking Web sites such as MySpace, text-messaging on cell phones or instant-messaging on computers often saw their grades drop, according to research by a California State University, Fresno professor.

I'm not trying to be rude, but, duh. They would be better off performing a study to see if time spent watching TV distracts from reading books. garrr, give me their grant money!
